New Beer
Available Thursday, June 14!!
Hello
Everyone! We are very excited to announce that we will
be releasing our second beer to the public on Thursday,
June 14 beginning at 5:00 pm. We will be having a launch
party at Hooligan’s Food and Spirits on Water Street
in Bay City. This is the same place we had the launch
party for Phoenix Golden Ale back in January. This new
beer is an Irish Red Ale – the same Irish Red that won
a bronze medal at the World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth,
Michigan last month.
Our Irish
Red Ale will be called Phelan Irish Red. Phelan is an
old Gaelic word that means wolf. For those of you that
are a little rusty on your Gaelic, Phelan is pronounced
“Falin” with a long “a” sound and short “i” sound. You
won’t want to miss the launch party next Thursday because
we plan on passing out to everyone in attendance a one
of a kind Phelan souvenir. This souvenir will only be
handed out at the launch party and will not be offered
for sale in the future. What is this souvenir? You will
have to show up at Hooligans to find out!!

Phelan is an
authentic Irish Ale with its own unique flavor. It is medium
bodied with a deep ruby color, moderate malt aroma and a creamy
tan head. We used a unique combination of a pale ale malt,
caramel malts and roasted barley to give a subdued sweetness
with a slight toffee like quality. Our multi-step, infusion
mash process gives a distinctive maltiness with a dry, clean,
roasted grain finish. The malt characteristics are balanced
with a light, smooth bitterness and a low hop aroma from the
traditional English hops. We absolutely love this beer, and
we hope that you will too.
In addition
to the launch of Phelan next Thursday, we will also be releasing
the first edition of our “Phoenix Wear”. These are our branded
Phoenix Golden Ale summer t-shirts and tank-tops. We will
have these available for the first time at the launch party
at Hooligans. These same items will shortly thereafter be
for sale on our web site. A new beer, a free souvenir, and
a new Phoenix shirt – sounds like a full evening!
Our flagship
ale, Phoenix Golden Ale, continues to spread its way across
the state. We are hopeful that when you travel north for a
long weekend that you will be able to find Phoenix at a local
tavern! As many of you are aware, Phoenix is offered on draft
at all of the Great Lake Loons home games at Dow Diamond in
Midland. Phoenix will also be available for all of the summer
concerts that will be held at the stadium. So when you are
at the stadium for a ballgame or a concert, please look for
the Phoenix tap located right behind home plate.
We continue
to make progress on the assembly and installation of our bottling
line. The bottling line we are purchasing is currently under
construction in St. Paul, Minnesota. Several of us will be
traveling to St. Paul in a couple of weeks to inspect the
bottling line. If all goes well, we expect the bottling line
to ship the middle of July with installation shortly thereafter.
A few weeks of testing should allow us to begin production
of bottled forms of Phoenix and Phelan sometime in August.
We will continue to keep all of you up to date via this newsletter.
